maria veronica silvestri

Another young Dominican-Italian raised mostly in the Dominican Republic. I've seen my fair share of Orlando, New York City, Ithaca, Quebec, and Mexico as well. My favorite has always been NYC, although I am biased since I was born there.

I'm a 23-year-old graduate student living in Queens, NY. I do a little bit of everything - I write, I paint, I work. I'm also raising my 10-year-old Yorkie, Nina.

I'm not a fan of having to describe myself. I have a hard time figuring out how to do so. I am, however, a fan of talking about what I do & can do. Read about it and see if you have an easier time figuring out how to put me in words.

My paintings

For more in-depth descriptions of my paintings, check out my Instagram @vecinavero. I'll update this website with them soon. These are currently all over the place - some in the DR, some in New York, some in other states. Glad my art can be as international as I am. If you're interested in any pieces, they're more than likely available. If it's not, I can make you one inspired by it.

I started Fake Zine in October of 2020 - it's come a long way since then. It started as an advice & stories blog. It still is, so go check it out.

I enjoy writing and I'm pretty good at it. I'd say I'm a great storyteller - I'd like to make a career out of it someday. Fake Zine came about as a way of sharing my writing, art, and self with everyone. I'm not the warmest individual, so this was a step towards becoming more open and vulnerable with those around me. We all go through positive and negative experiences throughout our lifetimes, why not be open about it? You survived, might as well turn it into a story. That's exactly what I'm doing.

Fake Zine is currently undergoing renovations. I'm turning it from an online blog to an actual digital and printed zine. Updates coming soon.

resume for site.pdf

What does it mean to be professional? Is it going to college? It is your position at a company? All of it is arbitrary and based on systems created by people we will never meet. If you look up the definition, it's simply having the skill to be a professional, and being a professional is belonging to a profession. So, technically, anyone can be a professional as long as you call what you do a profession.

I'm a jack of all trades. I can do almost anything and everything. I have more skills than I could list, although I did attempt to list them on my resume.

I got my Bachelor of Science degree, and am on route to gain my Master of Arts. My B.S. says Education and Public Health - that's partly true. I majored in Independent Studies, meaning I designed my own major. Education & Public Health were my focus. My M.A. is, however, Developmental Psychology - it's been fun so far.

I don't have my Master's yet; I'm still a part-time student. I'm also working at a cigar retailer called Cigar Country, managing Fake Zine, and painting. I'm always juggling various projects, so check in often.
